We were badly let down by loveholidays, left stranded at the airport and had to make our own way to the hotel, with two heavy suitcases, having already paid £164 for the transfers (both ways). Their response to my complaint was very poor and lacked any empathy at all.

I will never book with loveholidays in the future.

If I could give 1 star I would! Tried to make us share beds!!!

AI Highlights
  • - Booking showed capacity for 4, but the room had 1 double and 1 single.
  • - We were asked to pay £192 for two doubles; Love Holidays offered no help.

BEWARE!! They may make you share beds!!!

If I could give them 0 stars I would!!!

We've used Love Holidays before and had no issues however what happened to us this year is unbelievable!!!

We booked using the website and selected 2 adults and 2 children (ages 5 and 7). Room selection appeared stating it was a capacity 4 however the description doesn't specify which bed types you might get. At this point any normal person would assume each one of the people selected would get a bed to sleep in.

This was not the case!

When we arrived the hotel gave us a room and said it was the one on the booking but... only had 1 double and 1 single!

We were expected to share 3 in a double bed. When I complained at reception they told me to call 'Love Holidays on call support team'. I spent over 4 hours on the phone, emailling photos and being told they couldn't help us. The hotel told us if we wanted a room that had 2 double beds (sleeping capacity for 4) we had to pay an upgrade of a further £192!

Love holidays wouldn't pay this extra and we had no choice but to pay it. Love holidays told us the hotel had offered a solution and so they wouldn't do anymore to help and it was up to us to take the offer or not! ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!

I was gobsmacked and fuming!!! Since returning to the UK and further complaining to Love holidays we've been called liar's, consistently said it was our fault we didnt check the room type slept 4 (even though it was advertised on their website as sleeping 4) and refused compensation.

The suppliers, who I believe to be the hotel, have refunded £130 after such a battle but that doesn't even cover the additional cost we experienced, nor the fact Love holidays took payment for one of our family who they provided no accommodation for!

They falsely advertised on their website and take no responsibility when it goes wrong for you as they are "only a broker!".

So beware booking with this shocking lot ... we never will again!!!Angry

Despite raising my concerns from the very first day of our holidayafter experiencing extremely poor dining conditions and unacceptable facilitiesI have only received repeated acknowledgments stating that the matter is under investigation. Throughout this time, I provided extensive photographic evidence and made multiple attempts to escalate the issue, including requesting live video calls to demonstrate the severity of the situation in real time.

Unfortunately, I was informed that such measures fall outside of your procedures.
As a result, I have lost four days of what was meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable family holiday.
This experience has not only caused significant distress but has also negatively impacted my children.

I believe that, had the matter been addressed with the appropriate urgency and flexibility, alternative arrangements such as relocating us to a different hotel could have been made. In light of the substantial inconvenience, emotional distress, and time lost, I am formally requesting a full refund along with appropriate compensation.

Communication from love holidays

Original review Jul 06, 2025
Booked a holiday through Love Holidays at the Lunar Miramar Club Hotel in Portugal. Tried several times to contact the company regarding several issues at the hotel.

Unable to reach any agents. Then became stranded at Faro airport due to easyJet's cancelled flights. No communication from Love Holidays to assist us! No available representatives to ask for support.

We had to find our own flights or accommodation. We also had a child with us suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. Where is the so-called 24-hour support? easyJet did not adhere to their policies.

No help whatsoever. I'm now out of pocket due to the hotel's disgusting food and having to eat out every day, and also having to find a flight home.

I'm now in debt after totaling up all extra outgoings: £925. Furthermore, I will be taking my claim for compensation from Love Holidays and easyJet further.

When you placed importance on price and used love holidays, you forfeited direct face-to-face financial reimbursement of any type from the airline/hotel. You gave your money to LH, became their customer, and placed ALL conflict resolution (barring extra towels, room cleaning, etc and meal vouchers for flight delays) on them.

Guests who paid directly to the hotel and the airline also paid for that direct customer assistance when issues arise. Lesson learned.

Guest

Your issue is with those who failed to provide the proper services or are responsible for adjustment of same ; i.e. the hotel management , the airline customer relations folks, the restaurant manager, etc.

You'll get nothing from anyone for the worried child ; that was a direct result of your reactions to the described situations.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Conclusion : don't utilize third party services who act as nothing but sales agents - deal directly with the provider from the outset.

Terrific holiday

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I booked a holiday package with Love Holiday to Antalya, Turkey, when we went the plane was delayed for 1h and 30min, when we returned we did not have a return flight it was cancelled in February Antalya to London. Love Holiday sent me a single email in February the plane was cancelled and I did not see the email.

From February until July they did not contact me at all no voicemail or message to book other flights. We had to pay £2000 to return home and we returned with different planes as there was no room on the plane for 5 people 2 children 2 adults and a 76 year old person.

The most terrifying experience with Love Holiday in our lives. Do not take a holiday with them they are not serious at all and the customer service is horrible.

User's recommendation: Never book with them again

Astonished, dismayed shocked and genuinely upset.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Please read this in full.

Loveholidays stole 714 euros off us at a time of medical uncertainty with absolutely no care, consideration, or morals from any member of their staff, instead passing the blame onto their business model that is 'policy.'

If you can't make your holiday for any unforeseen circumstances including medical emergencies, Loveholidays will not assist in any way, as we found, unless you have the opportunity to pay extortionate amounts to change your booking.

Prior to our holiday, my partner had a major medical episode which, in turn, has prevented her from traveling in general for a number of months.

Our weekend holiday to Rome was booked for the 4th of March at a cost of 714 (flights and accommodation). This is money we worked hard to save for a number of months and something we were excited about.

Once my partner was out of hospital and our life back on the mend, we began to make changes to our booking. We changed our flights directly with Ryanair with no issues (thank you Ryanair!). We then explained our extraordinary circumstances to Loveholidays and asked to amend the hotel booking. The cost to change it to midweek in October was an additional 784! (same room, same length of stay, same hotel). As this was not money we now had, we contacted the Italian hotel directly. Unfortunately, they could not amend our booking as it was done through a third party - Loveholidays - but they were as surprised as us at that cost and agreed the amendment was overly expensive.

We explained to Loveholidays that we could not afford the amendment cost and asked for credit or a refund, which according to their policy is not possible. It was made very clear by the call taker on the day that if the cost to amend our booking wasn't paid before the end of business that day (1st March), then no other help could be arranged for us. We then, unfortunately, had to go the route of consumer rights to try to get a refund, which we were entitled to as this was an uncontrollable circumstance. We learned that this process meant opening a medical ticket and brought us just days prior to our scheduled departure. We now know it was the last hope we had and one that we were bound to fail. For one, nothing is explained by Loveholidays when a medical ticket is opened other than it can be a lengthy process and that we may not see a refund; the information goes to the medical team that you can't speak to other than by email, and the call center staff cannot pass information forward, which is helpful, right? Two, there is a list of necessary documentation required to be sent from the medical team to Hotelbeds (Loveholidays' partner that defines the costs of rooms and the actual refund), and three, if the documentation can't be obtained from your general practitioner before the date of departure, your holiday is voided on the date of travel and you lose your money, which they are not willing to prevent. We asked for any leniency to get the documentation in order with our local doctor; we asked for contact information for Hotelbeds to ask for clemency, which was refused; we asked for a stay on our ticket so we could provide proof of our circumstances, and every plea and ask for help, the answer was, 'that's not my policy, so no.'

The medical letter stating that my partner may not travel under any circumstances was received just after our date of departure, and to Loveholidays, that's just unfortunate.

If the financial cost of this was minor, we wouldn't be so upset, but as our holiday is abolished and another one unaffordable, I can't help but let this rest. Legal action has been mentioned to us but is too expensive for us to pursue, so I hope these words can be used on this platform to uncover a corrupted business model that puts profit before its customers. Please do not book with these evil people.

You stated “booked for the 4th of March at a cost of 714 (flights and accommodations).” Then you state “we changed our flight directly with Ryanair.(thank you Ryanair).” So if the flights got changed, you are not out 714. (Flight and accommodations, your words).

You are out 714 minus the flight you were allowed to change. And you need to rephrase “they stole” to “we irresponsibly booked through a third party to save a few bucks”.

Guest

Actually the business model is not a con. You choosing to use a third party is.

You could have bought travel insurance but did not. You could have booked directly with the hotel but you did not. Every hotel I have ever stayed at, booking direct, had a 48 hour cancellation policy.

So had you chosen more wisely ahead of time, you would not be at this point. That 700 they would lose from your cancellation would be passed on to other guests in some form in the future and that is the only thing here that would not be fair.

Booked a holiday to go with friends. Confirmed came back with 3 weeks earlier and an extra night!

Requested change immediately and they came back with those dates for flight aren't available.

Checked the holidays again and they ARE still offering those dates!

Called Loveholidays and I can only have those dates if I book a new holiday and Cancel the other.

Plus Over £300 for the pleasure. Getting on to ATOL.

Worst holiday booking experience of my life

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

If I could rate them zero or negative stars, I would.

I'm sure they're fine if everything goes smoothly.

However, we needed to change the week of our holiday, which when booking were told was fine to do. When we attempted to do so, it cost several hundred pounds more than it did previously.

From speaking to the extremely rude loveholidays representative, who spoke to me like a child and talked over me the entire time, this is because the 'new holiday' deal was no longer applicable, even though this was still a new holiday just with a different date. This was not mentioned anywhere.

We asked to cancel so we could book it fresh - nope. Told this would cost us £600 to cancel as the flights were non-refundable. Fine - can we cancel the hotel then and we'll keep the flights so we can change with the airline directly?

Nope - they don't do partial cancellations.

Okay... can I speak to a supervisor please? Sorry, that will take 2-3 days to do if the request is approved, which was subsequently denied.

So my choice was to change the dates and lose £600, or cancel the holiday and lose £600 - even though the only non-refundable part of the booking we wanted to keep.

This is pure greed, there is absolutely no other reason to not carry the 'new holiday' deal across when changing dates, and no reason to cancel the non-refundable flights.

Disgusting policies, awful customer service and one of the worst booking experiences of my life. I will never use this company again and advise others to steer well clear.

Feel Ripped Off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I booked and paid for a weekend break with Loveholidays after researching for a long time. received an email 3 days later saying that price was wrong asking me to pay £61 more.

I suggested Loveholidays pay the difference - they refused. I could have originally booked with a competitor but went with Loveholidays as it was cheaper only to be eventually charged more than the competitor because of the extra payment.

Feel cheated and ripped off. DO NOT BOOK WITH LOVEHOLIDAYS

Bunch of clowns

Title: What absolute bunch of Clowns

Where do I begin? I booked a holiday through Loveholidays for myself and my 7 year-old son a simple, sun drenched break at a hotel with waterslides.

Instead, I got a multi week hostage negotiation with the customer service equivalent of an empty call centre queue.

After confirming the booking and collecting payment faster than you can say non-refundable, Loveholidays instructed me yes, instructed me to change my flights at my own cost before they could process a hotel amendment. Like a fool with hope, I did. The cost? 500 The result, Nothing.

They then informed me, with the cold indifference of a vending machine refusing exact change that the hotel was no longer available.

Nor was the alternative I offered. Nor was anything else with, say, a swimming pool, a functioning shower, or breathable air. But dont worry, they offered me the opportunity to choose three more disappointing hotels from their fantasy list of resorts my son would hate. A wonderful twist on Choose Your Own Misery.

When I cited their own Terms and the EU Package Travel Directive (you know, the law), they responded with silence.

Glorious, echoing silence.

Possibly the most competent service they offered throughout the process.

In the end, I filed a chargeback with my bank, which I now consider Loveholidays unofficial cancellation department.

Avoid. Like sunstroke in Gran Canaria

Miscarriage and mental health issues ignored by the company !IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE 0 start.

I feel compelled to share my devastating experience with Loveholidays, not just for my own sake, but to warn others especially vulnerable customers about how this company handles genuine human suffering.

Due to serious mental health issues and a severe hormonal imbalance due third miscarriage (happening now and my holiday booked with them is in 3 weeks), I was medically deemed unfit to travel, work or anything. I provided documentation, including evidence from my GP confirming my condition.

Im going through an incredibly fragile period, both mentally and financially, after multiple early losses and starting medication to prevent self-harm.

Despite all this, Loveholidays repeatedly refused my refund request for a trip I could not possibly take. Instead of showing compassion or empathy, they added stress, ignored my pleas, and dismissed the evidence I submitted. All I asked for was a refund of approximately £300, which is a small amount compared to the £55+ million in profits the company reported in 2023/2024.

Their lack of understanding and care is absolutely disgraceful. I escalated the issue with a detailed and heartfelt letter to their management, but they still chose profit over people.

Ive now successfully reversed the charge through my bank, but that doesnt undo the trauma and humiliation this process caused.

This experience has left me disillusioned and deeply hurt. I urge anyone with complex medical or mental health needs to think twice before booking with Loveholidays. If you encounter any issues, do not expect empathy, flexibility, or basic decency.

To Loveholidays: This isnt just about money.

Its about how you treat real people during the worst times of their lives. I wont stay silent, and Ill continue to share this story publicly so others can make informed decisions.

loveholidays made an error with the hotel so we couldn't check in until 12 hours after landing. We were left to manage and call the supplier and loveholidays to try and sort out their error. The issue was not resolved and we had to pay out of pocket to resolve it, leaving us with no money to spend on the actual holiday.

On top of this, we racked up a phone bill of £250 due to the calls between loveholidays and the supplier and loveholidays said they would not reimburse us for this.
