Worst holiday booking experience of my life

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

If I could rate them zero or negative stars, I would.

I'm sure they're fine if everything goes smoothly.

However, we needed to change the week of our holiday, which when booking were told was fine to do. When we attempted to do so, it cost several hundred pounds more than it did previously.

From speaking to the extremely rude loveholidays representative, who spoke to me like a child and talked over me the entire time, this is because the 'new holiday' deal was no longer applicable, even though this was still a new holiday just with a different date. This was not mentioned anywhere.

We asked to cancel so we could book it fresh - nope. Told this would cost us £600 to cancel as the flights were non-refundable. Fine - can we cancel the hotel then and we'll keep the flights so we can change with the airline directly?

Nope - they don't do partial cancellations.

Okay... can I speak to a supervisor please? Sorry, that will take 2-3 days to do if the request is approved, which was subsequently denied.

So my choice was to change the dates and lose £600, or cancel the holiday and lose £600 - even though the only non-refundable part of the booking we wanted to keep.

This is pure greed, there is absolutely no other reason to not carry the 'new holiday' deal across when changing dates, and no reason to cancel the non-refundable flights.

Disgusting policies, awful customer service and one of the worst booking experiences of my life. I will never use this company again and advise others to steer well clear.

Bunch of clowns

Title: What absolute bunch of Clowns

Where do I begin? I booked a holiday through Loveholidays for myself and my 7 year-old son a simple, sun drenched break at a hotel with waterslides.

Instead, I got a multi week hostage negotiation with the customer service equivalent of an empty call centre queue.

After confirming the booking and collecting payment faster than you can say non-refundable, Loveholidays instructed me yes, instructed me to change my flights at my own cost before they could process a hotel amendment. Like a fool with hope, I did. The cost? 500 The result, Nothing.

They then informed me, with the cold indifference of a vending machine refusing exact change that the hotel was no longer available.

Nor was the alternative I offered. Nor was anything else with, say, a swimming pool, a functioning shower, or breathable air. But dont worry, they offered me the opportunity to choose three more disappointing hotels from their fantasy list of resorts my son would hate. A wonderful twist on Choose Your Own Misery.

When I cited their own Terms and the EU Package Travel Directive (you know, the law), they responded with silence.

Glorious, echoing silence.

Possibly the most competent service they offered throughout the process.

In the end, I filed a chargeback with my bank, which I now consider Loveholidays unofficial cancellation department.

Loveholidays: where packages go to die, and customer service goes to hide.

Avoid. Like sunstroke in Gran Canaria

You created your own headache by not booking each aspect of your trip DIRECTLY yourself. You went cheap and forfeited the ability of penalty-free assistance and changes that were independent of each other.

Feel Ripped Off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I booked and paid for a weekend break with Loveholidays after researching for a long time. received an email 3 days later saying that price was wrong asking me to pay £61 more.

I suggested Loveholidays pay the difference - they refused. I could have originally booked with a competitor but went with Loveholidays as it was cheaper only to be eventually charged more than the competitor because of the extra payment.

Feel cheated and ripped off. DO NOT BOOK WITH LOVEHOLIDAYS

Miscarriage and mental health issues ignored by the company !IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE 0 start.

I feel compelled to share my devastating experience with Loveholidays, not just for my own sake, but to warn others especially vulnerable customers about how this company handles genuine human suffering.

Due to serious mental health issues and a severe hormonal imbalance due third miscarriage (happening now and my holiday booked with them is in 3 weeks), I was medically deemed unfit to travel, work or anything. I provided documentation, including evidence from my GP confirming my condition.

Im going through an incredibly fragile period, both mentally and financially, after multiple early losses and starting medication to prevent self-harm.

Despite all this, Loveholidays repeatedly refused my refund request for a trip I could not possibly take. Instead of showing compassion or empathy, they added stress, ignored my pleas, and dismissed the evidence I submitted. All I asked for was a refund of approximately £300, which is a small amount compared to the £55+ million in profits the company reported in 2023/2024.

Their lack of understanding and care is absolutely disgraceful. I escalated the issue with a detailed and heartfelt letter to their management, but they still chose profit over people.

Ive now successfully reversed the charge through my bank, but that doesnt undo the trauma and humiliation this process caused.

This experience has left me disillusioned and deeply hurt. I urge anyone with complex medical or mental health needs to think twice before booking with Loveholidays. If you encounter any issues, do not expect empathy, flexibility, or basic decency.

To Loveholidays: This isnt just about money.

Its about how you treat real people during the worst times of their lives. I wont stay silent, and Ill continue to share this story publicly so others can make informed decisions.

Wrong dates

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Booked a holiday to go with friends. Confirmed came back with 3 weeks earlier and an extra night!

Requested change immediately and they came back with those dates for flight aren't available.

Checked the holidays again and they ARE still offering those dates!

Called Loveholidays and I can only have those dates if I book a new holiday and Cancel the other.

Plus Over £300 for the pleasure. Getting on to ATOL.

loveholidays made an error with the hotel so we couldn't check in until 12 hours after landing. We were left to manage and call the supplier and loveholidays to try and sort out their error. The issue was not resolved and we had to pay out of pocket to resolve it, leaving us with no money to spend on the actual holiday.

On top of this, we racked up a phone bill of £250 due to the calls between loveholidays and the supplier and loveholidays said they would not reimburse us for this.

Absolutely disgusting service. Cannot resolve anything and will NEVER USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN.

Most all hotels will require the person listed on the reservation be the one at check-in. Especially with a third party booking.

If you don’t care about the money, call the hotel and request they cancel the reservation (they can’t refund you anyway). Tell them you want the room available for someone else to rent.

Cancelling my holiday

booking reference lov101****ou

good morning,

please can you explain or put me on to the right person. after speaking with loveholidays yesterday, in order to cancel our holiday we were expected to pay £1,173.16.

I had already paid £107.55 on 2/2/2025.

I then paid £618.79 as payment towards the holiday on 01/03/2025. this still was not enough money to cancel the holiday, so I had to pay a further £446.82 to cancel.

this is absolutely ridiculous. my husband was made redundant on monday 31/3/2025, so we thought we would cancel the holiday and use the money already paid to book a holiday at a later date. loveholidays said no, we could only book it 10 months in advance.

what is the point of a deposit?

quite happy to lose a deposit but not over £1000?

we have been with easyJet before for the whole package.

when we cancelled before, they even kept the deposit and we transferred to another holiday at a later date.

I even asked if my husband had died, would I still have had to pay this amount? she said yes!

looking forward to a response or somebody that can help me.

kind regards.

Why did you argue a hypothetical with love holidays (a death)? Why didn’t you say instead, so there I have travel insurance.

I made that comment. I am not from loveholidays.

If you did buy insurance, you should have proof of payment.

That should be your argument. You did not mention that fact at all in your post.

OH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD GROW UP. Just because someone tells you that they are wrong does not mean that they work for the company.

Clearly you are a child making this ASSumption. Your parents need to use the whip on you for lying. They are just telling you how insurance works. If you knew how to read you would know this.

You may be old enough to be married, but you are immature.

I feel sorry for your husband. he did not know what he was getting into when he choose to marry you.

Quite clearly you know nothing about myself and my family, how dare you write something so awful, quite clearly you are single and have nothing better to do than rant on other peoples posts who are quite clearly in distress, this is just shear frustration from the response from Love Holidays and other providers haven’t dealt with this in the same manner

Wafa Rxc

What about you. You don't know anyone here.

You are ASSuming I am single. You are ASSuming that person works for the company. You hypocrite. How dare you ASSumie that I am single and they work for the company.

GROW UP CHILD. Your lied are making both you and your family bad. Making your parents look stupid.

Making you look stupid. Probably everyone is laughing at you.

Guest

You are deflecting and mad at a comment. Since you left out the fact that you bought travel insurance in your posting, call them and follow up. Coming here and arguing with strangers won’t get your money back.

Wafa Rxc
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2675973

None of these comments are awful. They are telling the truth.

If your poor wittle feeling are easily hurt you should not be on a PUBLIC FORUM lying about people working for the company or bring single. I blame your parents though.

They did not teach you right from wrong .Your parents are failures. So are you.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2675973

Actually having insurance probably won’t help. Especially if the reason is loss of employment.

Guest

Unless you bought travel insurance and have a qualifying reason, you are bound to their terms of service you agreed to. They are quite clear and exact.

Without travel insurance there is no litmus test to pass for a refund. Canceling “just because”, a hangnail, a hospitalization or a death all carry the same cancellation policy to be enforced.

Guest

LoveHolidays is a British company. You see how the person who responded to you explaining about insurance spelled the word "hospitalization".

That is the American spelling.

Pray tell why you believe this person works for LoveHolidays? Also, you have posted your complaint to an international, public consumer complaint site, that anyone, anywhere in the world can view and make posts to.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.

Original review Feb 22, 2025
In November 2024, my family and I made a booking for June 2025. There are two separate bookings, one for my parents and one for me, which I pay in installments, while my parents' booking is paid in full.

At the end of January, we received an email from the airline stating one of the flights was cancelled. I was able to change my booking to different dates, even though it required extra money which I was unhappy to pay, considering it wasn't my fault the airline cancelled the flight and everything needed to be changed. However, we encountered significant difficulties trying to change my parents' booking. Initially, we were informed that the flight is not available and that they can't change it.

Yet, upon checking the airline's website, it clearly stated the flight was available, something I couldn't understand. Eventually, when they agreed to change it, they presented almost 900 in extra costs, which is unacceptable. Every time we receive an email from the amendment team, each person says something different. We were promised a callback from the amendment team which never eventuated.

Customer service keeps telling us we need to wait and that they've noted the account to prioritize a callback the same day. Yet, so far, five days have passed without a callback and nothing has changed. They took over 2k gladly, but when issues arise, they are unwilling to assist us, which is quite disconcerting. This experience has turned what was meant to be a nice family holiday into a nightmare, and we're uncertain whether it will go ahead at all.

Moreover, if my parents decide to cancel the holiday, they will only receive a refund of 1200, even though they paid over 2k, which is absurd. When my parents asked to speak to a supervisor, the agents refused to transfer the call, claiming there was no need.

Clearly, there is a need when no one is helpfully resolving the situation. After this ordeal, we won't be booking with Loveholidays again since they don't seem to be a serious company.

Booked a holiday and my son's name was autocorrected from Jayden to Jay when booking. I immediately tried to contact LoveHoliday but was unable to.

Eventually, I requested an amendment to correct the name (not a change of passenger) and was told I would get a response in 96 hours - a £25 fee would be payable for the amendment, which I was annoyed about but accepted.
