I booked a hotel in Las Vegas for 3 nights that stated I would pay £179 to Loveholiday (Booking reference LOV1313****U) and then £22.51 locally to the hotel but when I arrived I was charged $186.90 (roughly £139). I can expect some variation but to be 517.50% out is not correct and something that they must have know but did not want to state at the time of the booking as this would have made it less attractive.

When I queried this with Loveholiday that referred me to their terms and conditions that I shoudl have read that state local charges are just an estimate and my vary. I queried to them that on my confirmation from them it does not state anywhere that the £22.51 was an estimate that normally for holidays people only read the T&C's around cancellation, amendments etc as 100% people would expect the price quoted to the correct value. I travelled around the US with my family last year and booked 7 different holiday bookings for hotels and all of these where the same value as the confirmation so I did not worry this time, which I massively now regret. They state that they are not a holiday operator so do not know what these charges are but this was not mentioned at all during my booking process online or in my confirmation.

They are refusing to refund me as they are sticking to the fact that I could and should have clicked on their T&C's before I booked to check if the price I was getting was an estimate or not. They would not accept that no one would do this unless they felt that there was some risk around needing to know the terms around cancellation or amendments to a booking. Loveholidays cannot be trusted and are deliberately in opinion advertising hotels rooms at low price by hiding behind their T&C's. Even if they had put the word 'estimation' on the booking around the local taxes or put a pop up that states the value was just an estimation or even stated this on the confirmation this would have been more transparent but they did niether.

When I called there customer service line the person I spoke to clearly had a script to deal with my queries so it is clearly something that they get a lot of queries and complaints over. I needed to book an extra one nights state and interestingly all the webnsites that I looked at such as booking.com, hotels.com, expedia.com, kayak.com, skyscanner.com etc all made it very clear what was and was not included and some of them clearly included all the necessary local taxes information.
